What kinds of follow-up are there?
The easiest, of course, is the telephone. Be sure if you tell someone you are going to call them back you do! Put it in your Millionaire Planner (calendar). If you use an electronic calendar, have an electronic alert. There is a way to have Response Magic send an alert as well, so be sure to get the details this piece.
Follow-Up After the Presentation. When you make the initial contact with your prospect, you should be setting up your follow-up appointment for directly after the A-Z presentation. Be sure to utilize the power of the 3-way close.
- Here is a great way to approach an introduction:When you introduce someone else–build them up before the call–when you are setting the appointment–you want to say, I am going to have my mentor on–and they are so busy, that sometimes, it’s hard to book time with them. Then share with them why you are so excited to be part of their team.Example: It’s awesome to work with Barb because she has such a handle on how to build the business effectively. She creates success for those people that want to build with our team. She is usually booked non-stop.Go on to say ‘But, I will arrange a time slot for us after the call so together we will get your questions answered. Be sure to allocate time right after the presentation.‘Remember, you want it so they can hardly wait for that phone call after the presentation.
When your prospect truly feels someone busy, successful and important is joining the call they will pay attention to what is said. They’ll turn down that TV and take notes because they’ll understand that the person joining the call is worthy of their full attention. They will be impressed you have access to that person, and they will feel important too because they are included on the call. How many people can get on the phone with Donald Trump?
In-Home Presentation Package. Prepare a simple package with YOUR Company’s literature and YOUR Branded brochure. Be sure to include your favorite product and business CD. Place the product information on the left and business information on the right. Be sure to include a brief note and any follow-up websites you want them to visit and your business card.
Part of creating your brand is your materials – making them consistent. While these things are by no means necessary, they do allow you to have a ‘polished’ image, and in this economy when you are attracting business executives, you want to have a polished image. It is one of the thing that will set you apart from your competition.
Here is the list of ‘Image/Branded’ Materials:
- Business Cards
- Rack or Post Cards
- Presentation Folders
- Stationery (Suggest you take your logo and create in Publisher or Word)
- Sticky Notes
Have your graphic designer create the above pieces with the same look and feel and order them at the same time from your printer – I use Vista Print and Look for when they are offering a significant sale. Having everything printed at once allows for the color lot to be consistent.
Welcome Package. Prepare a package that has a sampling of the company’s marketing materials and your branded information (including your brochure, your Mission Statement, and business card. Be sure to include your favorite product and business CDs. Place the product information on the left and business information on the right. The idea is to give your member a good overview of what is available for marketing—and of course to educate them.
Remember, you market the business and share the product. Of course, there are times when you will indeed find yourself marketing the product—but the general rule is lead with the business. Your new member will want to have a working knowledge of both the product line and the business, so let your selections reflect this (they don’t need to be an expert). Be sure to include a welcome letter and any ‘getting started’ instructions. Don’t forget your business card—it’s a great way for your new member to see one of our most popular tools.
Again, you have one shot at a first impression—and believe it or not, a Welcome Package is part of follow-up.
Home Office Pro/Response Magic Follow-Up. Did you remember that your MLM Academy Membership includes a contact management system with over 100 time-tested proven letters? This is a BIG Benefit, so be sure to use it.
A contact management system with a built in auto responder allows you to stay in constant contact without having to continually remember to do so. It increases the possibility of enrolling a prospect. (I have enrolled two key business builders who joined me because they received my emails for 4 years AFTER they said NO to me).
How do you use this system? Move them to the correct list. You will have a YES or NO. If they join the Team, you need to move them to the ‘Welcome New Business Builder’ and add them as a new contact to Business Builder Product Letters. If they say NO, you’ll want to move them to the ‘NO for Now’ List.
The No for Now list sends out a letter to your prospect every three to four weeks to just check in with them. Timing is everything in Life—and there could have been many reasons why timing wasn’t right for your prospect to join you. When you remain in constant contact through a monthly ‘just checking in’ email and your weekly Branded Message (I recommend a combination of motivation and education), you will reap the rewards

Your Secret Edge for Exceptional Living Tip. Create a personal relationship with your prospect and team. Send a motivational or inspirational message once a week. Give it a title – mine is called ‘Your Secret Edge for Exceptional Living.’ You receive these messages from me once or twice a week. Feel free to copy them into your own email and send them on to your Response Magic Lists.
